Meet Leo

My story begins in 1980 when my parents arrived to the United States via the Mariel Boat Lift. My parents settled in Culver City, CA and then as a young child we moved to Miami.

My culture is a significant part of my identity. I love the music. The food. The cafecito. In Miami, my culture was easily accessible. When I moved back to LA, I found myself missing the mundane things I did. Like grabbing a colada for friends and stopping by the ventanita for a pastelito.

Miami Cafe was started to bring a piece of home for those living away and a taste for thosewho can't make the flight.

I own and operate Miami Cafe with my wife Mayra who grew up in the Santa Clarita Valley. We are grateful for the community we've built on Cubano sandwich at a time.
